Aam Olas Ep 299: The House of Blindness in Lower Dir

In Aam Olas Episode 299, I traveled to Lower Dir, specifically Talash, Akhmad Kalay, to witness a reality that words alone cannot fully capture.

In this area, if you ask anyone for directions, they will not ask which house. They will simply say, “That is the house of blind people.”
That is how deeply this family’s story is rooted in the collective memory of the village.

This episode is not just a report.
It is a reminder.

A reminder to thank Almighty Allah for what we often take for granted.

Aam Olas Ep 299

Inside the House of Blindness

This family consists of six individuals:

  • An elderly husband
  • His wife
  • Four children, all blind, some also facing mental health challenges

There is also a seventh son, the only one who is physically healthy. Sadly, he has chosen to separate himself from his parents and siblings. According to the family, he openly says that he does not like visiting them.

For parents already burdened with hardship, this emotional abandonment adds another layer of pain.

Life Full of Hurdles

Blindness is not just the loss of sight.
It is the loss of independence, opportunity, and dignity — especially in areas where support systems are limited.

Every daily task becomes a challenge:

  • Moving inside the house
  • Eating
  • Basic hygiene
  • Depending on others for survival

When you watch the visuals from this episode, you do not just see the struggle — you feel it.

This is a life filled with hurdles at every step.

The Mother: The Only Source of Income

In this household, the mother is the only one who earns anything at all.

Her income is minimal.
Whatever help comes from the local community is occasional and uncertain.

Despite her own limitations, she carries the responsibility of:

  • Feeding her family
  • Caring for her blind children
  • Managing a home where almost everyone depends on her

This is not charity.
This is survival.

A Test of Humanity

Islam teaches us patience, gratitude, and compassion.
But how often do we pause and reflect on these lessons?

This episode forces us to ask:

  • Are we truly thankful for our health?
  • Do we recognize the struggles of those living beside us?
  • Are we doing enough as a society?

The suffering of this family is not hidden.
Everyone knows them.
Yet their pain continues.

Aam Olas — A Voice for the Voiceless

Aam Olas is not about entertainment.
It is about truth, awareness, and human responsibility.

Episode 299 stands as a powerful reminder that:

The greatest blindness is not of the eyes — it is of the heart.

May Allah guide us to be more compassionate.
May He ease the hardships of this family.
And may we never forget how blessed we truly are.
