The assailant, identified as Akhtar Ali, intercepted Nyala Bibi and her young son while they were on their way to meet a relative. Akhtar Ali, a resident of Bhatai Chowk in Mingora, had harbored resentment over his wife’s pursuit of divorce following their years-long separation. Nyala Bibi had taken legal steps to seek a divorce and had been residing with her parents, trying to distance herself from Akhtar Ali.

The horrifying event was witnessed by bystanders who captured the scene in a shocking photograph that quickly went viral on social media. In the image, a distraught child can be seen sobbing beside the lifeless body of his mother, who was bleeding. The photograph stirred outrage and sympathy from people across the region.

Law enforcement responded swiftly, apprehending Akhtar Ali and recovering the weapon used in this heinous crime. Ali has been the subject of a First Information Report (FIR), and an inquiry into the incident is underway.
